Nomada sexfasciata

  • Habitat: warm, dry places, arid meadows, hedgerows, forest edges, extensively managed meadows, uncultivated areas
  • Behavior: cuckoo bees
  • Nest: nests of other parasitic bees
  • Parasitized species: Eucera longicornis e Eucera nigrescens
  • Red list of bees in Switzerland: not endangered

Interesting Facts:

These bees look very much like wasps. Some of them take refuge in the flower heads of bluebells or other plants that close their flowers at night, and sleep there.
